Dr. McKinley-Holloway is proud to bring the use of CEREC® technology to Shelby Township, Macomb, Clinton Township, MI, and beyond! The use of Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) technology allows our dentists to provide same day crowns and other restorations like veneers and dental inlays and onlays. This is in contrast to traditional dental restorations, which take at least two dental appointments to place. Traditional dental restorations are made in a dental lab, while CEREC restorations are constructed in our dental office.
The CEREC Process
To produce a CEREC restoration, our dentists will first take a 3D digital impression of your tooth and the teeth on the opposing jaw. This digital impression is sent directly to a computer, where CEREC software allows our dentists to quickly design your dental restoration. The software analyzes the 3D image and calculates restoration proposals for our dentists. After your dental restoration is designed, our dentists will construct it using a milling machine. The milling process only takes a few minutes. Your resulting dental restoration will be durable and will be very aesthetic. Our dentists will permanently cement your dental restoration in place.
Benefits of CEREC Restorations
We provide CEREC crowns and restorations because of the many benefits to you. Having a tooth crown or restoration constructed with CEREC technology means time saved for you. Instead of making time for two dental appointments in your busy schedule, you can come in and have your CEREC restoration made in placed in just one easy visit. Same-day restorations also means that you will not need to have a temporary restoration. You can have your beautiful, customized restoration right away.

What should I expect when having a CEREC restoration placed?
A digital impression will be taken of your teeth. The impression is used to digitally design your dental restoration. The restoration is then constructed in our milling machine in just a few minutes. The fit and shade of your dental restoration will then be checked before our dentists bond it in place.
Will I need to have dental impressions taken?
Yes, but we will not use traditional, goopy dental impressions. 3D impressions are taken, which are much more comfortable and give a more accurate reading.
How do I take care of my new CEREC restoration?
Care for your CEREC restoration in the same way you do your natural teeth. Brush and floss your teeth daily and visit our office for your regularly scheduled dental cleanings and exams.
