General Dentistry FAQs
We want you to be fully informed about your dental health and treatment options. Read our FAQs to learn more about general dentistry, and give us a call to make your appointment.
How often should I have a dental cleaning and exam appointment?
Visit our Shelby Township dentists at least every six months for your cleaning and exam appointment. Depending on your oral health and needs, we may recommend that you visit our office more frequently.
How often should I replace my toothbrush?
Replace your toothbrush every three to four months. If you notice your toothbrush becoming frayed or worn out, you may need to replace it sooner.
What should I expect during a dental filling?
During a dental filling appointment, the tooth decay will be removed and the area thoroughly cleaned. The dental filling material will then be placed and shaped to restore the size and shape of the natural tooth.
What should I expect during an oral cancer screening?
Our dentists will first perform a visual exam of the face, neck, lips, nose, and oral cavity, looking for asymmetries, swellings, bumps, patches, and other abnormalities. A physical exam will then be performed, during which our dentists will touch the head and cheeks, around the jaw, under the chin, and in the oral cavity to check for abnormalities.
